‘Shark Tank’ season 8: Chris Sacca to return with larger role

Shark Tank -For everyone out there who really enjoyed watching Chris Sacca on some assorted episodes of “Shark Tank” this season, we come bearing great news: You’re going to see even more of him on the upcoming eighth season.

In a lengthy post via Medium, the prolific investor (who has Uber, Instagram, Kickstarter, and more in his portfolio) made it clear that he will be around in a much larger capacity, though the exact number of episodes is not entirely clear just yet. Here’s a small sample:

“…I’m writing to tell you all that I have agreed to be back on Shark Tank next season as a recurring special guest Shark. ABC, Sony, MGM, Mark Burnett, and I were all mutually excited about the chance to work together again. While I am not allowed to say exactly how many episodes yet, let’s just say it will be “a bunch more” than I did this current season.”

For those who want more behind-the-scenes insight into the show, it’s a really great read as he goes into some of his discussions with executives, how he appreciates that the show lets him be himself, how many of the presentations and negotiations are far more extensive than you see on TV. Some of what happens during these can be a little boring, and that, coupled with time, are reasons why they are always edited down. The show has a formula, and it is one that has worked to make it into a hit despite airing at a tough time on Friday nights.

Troy Carter and Ashton Kutcher were also Guest Sharks on this season, but there’s no word just yet as to their future. Meanwhile, the current Sharks on the roster include Mark Cuban, Daymond John, Lori Greiner, Kevin O’Leary, Barbara Corcoran, and Robert Herjavec. New episodes air Fridays at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time.

We’ll have a preview for Friday’s episode up tomorrow at this link, much in the same way as we have for many years now. Also, sign up over here to secure some more TV news on all we cover, sent right over to you via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ABC.)
