ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 9: Jon Huertas, Molly C. Quinn, and more finalizing deals
The headlines concerning the ninth season of “Castle” (provided that it comes to fruition) are only starting to build up steam.
While ABC has now officially renewed the show just yet, a report from TVLine that has just come in makes it clear that Jon Huertas (Esposito), Molly C. Quinn (Alexis), Susan Sullivan (Martha), and Toks Olagundoye (Hayley) are all finalizing contract to return. This would mean that other than Stana Katic and Tamala Jones, the remainder of the cast at present (at least in terms of regulars) would return. There’s no real word on the status of Sunkrish Bala (Vikram), but he was more of a recurring player this season.
We have to assume that with all of these negotiations, the odds are high that the show is coming back, even with some of the backlash over the aforementioned exits. Why go through all of this trouble otherwise? We really think that one of the only reasons why a renewal hasn’t been announced yet is because the network wanted to get as many people locked in as possible in advance. Now that they’ve done that, they may be closer to making things official. They need to, given the showrunners need to decide on how they want to end the upcoming May 16 finale. (Two separate endings were done.)
As soon as something is official one way or the other, you better be sure that we’ll have that insight for you soon. If it’s not tomorrow, rest assured that we will at least have a review for you of “Hell to Pay.”

Because Castle was such a money maker for ABC for six seasons, the studio is giving them an abriviated season to bring the series to a satisfying conclusion.

Without the presence of Stana Katic and Tamala Jones there is nothing they can do for the fans to bring it to a satisfying conclusion.

Satisfying to the studio, where they can look back and be satisfied with their effort. That is all season 9 will be.

The only thing that seems to be positive at this point in time is that Stana and Tamala will not be returning if there is a season 9. And, of course, even this is not a “cast in concrete” situation because ABC can still negotiate contracts with these two stars at anytime they should determine it necessary. Likewise it only “seems” that there will even be a season 9 but this, too, is not cast in concrete and even if started a season 9 could be cancelled at anytime ABC desired. There is speculation that many fans will not return for a season 9 without Stana and/or Tamala but how many no one knows and no one knows how many would have to leave before it impacts of decisions to be made by ABC. At this time I would think that there is a strong possibility of a start of a season 9 but only considering that there is not a strong new program to replace Castle and the knowledge that a season 9 could be cancelled at any time.

I still believe Susan Sullivan’s interview in which when asked which lead she would like to see resigned, was loaded with subtext. Beckett has a lot of baggage Castle is always happy. It was also predictive.

The fact that ABC has renewed contracts to vertually the entire cast seems to lend ceedance to the rumor that the contract SK had garnered were so financially unsustainable under lower existing revenue streams , ABC didn’t bother negotiating something unrealistic .

She has told us before she was not in it for the money. Sounds like ABC just refused to negotiate with her. And It looks like if Goldberg and Ripa have a problem ABC goes running to them with check book in hand. Why can’t someone just be honest with why they never ask her, and threw the whole Castle story down that rabbit hole. Was it Fillion bullying, her only having 5 minutes of air time per episode or did are two runners just wanted to trade her in for Toks? Winter wanted a clean slate the only thing he cleaned out was Katic and Jones and a BS story line. I guess that what he calls cleaning.

Those were the terms of the contract she worked out with paul lee. The contract that ABC was not to happy with, her much shoter. hours for more pay
That’s why both paul lee and she were fired.

So if a auto maker gives his workers too much money you fire the auto workers. I’m sure Paul Lee was not the finale ABC corp word in her last contract, are they all fired too?
