During this past episode of “Outlander,” we saw one of the most brutal scenes of the season as Claire and her party were attacked by masked individuals, and were it not for a supposed sighting of “La Dame Blanche,” the situation may have worsened in unspeakable terms. These men seemed to believe that Claire herself was this mysterious figure, but she had no idea precisely what it meant.
In the sneak peek below, Jamie does his part to clear that matter up for her … and in the process reveals that he is the one responsible for the name! He had passed along a story about her having supernatural powers while out as a means to further pursue his Jacobite Rebellion quest, and incidentally, this lie about his wife being a witch ended up saving her and her party. Claire of course is rather unhappy about being called such a thing, especially after what happened during the first season. Yet, who knows? Maybe other advantages will come out of this at some point moving forward this season.
Ultimately, we do think that “La Dame Blanche” is really just the tip of the iceberg for Jamie and Claire in terms of their problems right now. Black Jack Randall continues to be a psychological specter in their lives, and there also is a new threat in the Comte St. Germain who may have been responsible for both the attack in the streets and the attempt to poison her. Figuring out the truth behind this has to be a primarily objective in the wake of the dinner party.
As per usual, we will be back tomorrow with a full review of all that transpires.
