‘Britain’s Got Talent’ preview: Will the Garnett Family impress the judges?

There is probably nothing that is more quintessential “Britain’s Got Talent” than a family band. The judges always love the story of it, and to go along with that they do tend to be rather popular with the voting public.

So can the Garnett Family continue this trend? We certainly think that they have the makings of it. Their audition below is certainly solid, and it’s a nice story to see so many family members all doing something that they love together.

Do we think it’s something that is commercially viable? That’s a little bit harder to see, since we’ve seen so many similar acts appear on this and other versions of the show who don’t quite end up going anywhere beyond it. The music industry itself is so cynical that it is hard at times to get people to turn that part of their brain off and think that a group has to be somehow “fixed.”

Still, this is an entertainment show first and foremost, so it’s really not fair to the Garnetts to sit here and ponder over whether or not they should fix this or that. They’re a rather charming, fun vocal group that should have a good chance of at least making it to the live rounds. From there, we’ll see what happens since there are so many factors in who advances on from there, including in some ways whether or not you are paired with similar acts on a live show.
