‘Britain’s Got Talent’ preview: Anne Klinge shows off unusual form of puppetry
Anne Klinge is one of the performers showing off what she can do on “Britain’s Got Talent” this weekend, and it is both extremely odd and also extremely compelling.
Basically, we’re not sure that we’ve ever seen anything quite like “foot puppetry” before, and yet here we are. Klinge has a talent that involves her telling a story in the most unusual way, which apparently involves putting wigs and fake noses on her feet and then moving them around in a particularly moving way.
Do we think that there is a lot of staying power to an act like this? It’s difficult. So much of the charm of the audition comes from it being something that we’ve never quite seen before, and Anne is going to have to find a way to make it bigger and funnier if she wants to get attention in the live shows. We suppose that she could do foot puppets again, but it’d have to be completely different and surprising in its own way.
Regardless of how she fares moving forward, we’re super-grateful that she tried out. When we look back at past years on the show and some of the acts we truly remember, the ones that always do rise to the top for us are the ones that are weird, wacky, silly, but also plenty of fun. We really wish that there were more out there like them, even if they don’t always end up making it to the final.
