‘Agent Carter’ season 3 renewal odds low; ‘Marvel’s Most Wanted’ fate mixed for now
It’s been a little while now since we’ve spoken about the fate of “Agent Carter” beyond this season, but it seems that you may as well start to expect the worst.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the odds of this series at present are not great, with one of the biggest reasons why being the show’s low ratings. They declined a great deal in season 2, which to us is a shame since we rather enjoyed it. Hayley Atwell already has a new ABC pilot in “Conviction,” and while she could in theory do both shows, we don’t necessarily think that she will be asked to.
The fate of spin-off “Marvel’s Most Wanted” may be a little more surprising to some, given that most anticipate at this point “Agent Carter” getting the guillotine. The aforementioned site states that the prospective series starring Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood is starting to see some interest wane, which would make the second straight year where the show does not get picked up. Do we want to see it happen? Absolutely, but our main fear is that with ratings for “Agents of SHIELD” already in the tank plus the show’s rather-large budget, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to order a spin-off that may not have a ratings ceiling that is any higher. If this spin-off featured characters from the film franchise, than it may make a little more sense.
We are firmly in the midst of renewal / cancellation season, and who knows? Ultimately these sort of decisions can remain somewhat mysterious until the last second when networks make their decisions. With that in mind, there’s still at least a trifle of hope that something surprising could take place here.
