“The Bachelorette” is going to be arriving on the air on Monday, May 23, but if there is one thing that we should have expected moving into this season, it is this: We’re going to be seeing JoJo Fletcher deal with some drunken guys on the first night. Every year, you would think that some people who went on this show would know better, and realize that drinking on this particular night means trouble. It’s a long night, there’s not always a lot of food, and there are nerves. That’s not a great combination.
Luckily, the synopsis below from the premiere also suggests that there will be a little bit of romance thrown in here … but also some awkwardness:
“The men continue to try and dazzle the Bachelorette during their one-on-one time. One bachelor steals her away and attempts to wow her with some push-ups. Some guys are so overwhelmed that they get off to an awkward start: One man asks for a kiss too soon and another has such an immediate attraction to Jojo, it leads to the first kiss of the season. The pressure mounts as Chris Harrison brings out the first impression rose, leading to some drunken antics by three inebriated men. JoJo wonders if some of these guys are here to meet her or just party. However, she does find a bachelor who deserves the first impression rose and he accepts it quite happily as his jealous contemporaries look on.”
If there is one (hyphenated) word we would use to describe these premieres the majority of the time, it would be “cringe-worthy.” The reality here is that there will be plenty of time for there to be romance down the road. We’re just not at that point just yet.
