‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: Exec hints at Regina crisis during finale
The end of “Once Upon a Time” season 5 is really not too far away, and with that, we’re going to have a chance to see Regina Mills tested yet again. We know that such tests are necessary for a show to be good and dramatic, but at the same exact time, we do really feel for her at the moment thanks to everything that she has been through.
In setting up the story for this last episode airing later this month, executive producer Edward Kitsis tells Entertainment Weekly that we are going to see specifically a ghost from her past, whether it be physical or metaphorical, come back and haunt her:
“Regina finds herself, once again, feeling like the Evil Queen is something she can never break free off. There’s a karmic debt that she still hasn’t repaid.”
We do know that there are some secrets from the show’s past that have never really been addressed, and this could be a great time explore some of them while setting up the sixth season … if for no other reason than that we don’t know how many opportunities the show will have left. We aren’t hearing any plans for now that season 6 is the show’s last, but once we get to this point in any show’s run our philosophy becomes to make sure you leave nothing on the table. There is always more time to figure out future stories if you need to, but it is best to try and live in the moment and figure out the best ways to tell stories that you know you want out there.
