On Friday night’s “Shark Tank,” we’re going to have a chance to see a number of different companies try to earn a deal. Yourself Expression is one that has a relatively simple idea, and with that their challenge comes via more of the following: How do you make it stand out from all of the other items in this space?
The first thing that we will say we definitely like about the pitch below is that it is being done by a teenager and her little brother. We felt from the first moment we researched this product that it was meant to be a new charm bracelet, and therefore was perfectly suited for the teen / pre-teen market. This is something that could be popular with them, provided that you can find a way to reach out to this market and cater to precisely what it is that they want. Unfortunately, that is not always an easy thing to do since you really have to market your butt off.
Do we think that the Sharks will love their energy? Without a doubt, but the one thing that always makes us worried for child entrepreneurs is that there is only feasibly so much time they can give. We tend to find them a little bit more when they are in the vein of Ry’s Ruffery (formerly Ryan’s Barkery), where they can go in with a parent who can do most of the work to help further facilitate the creativity of the child. It makes the Sharks more comfortable about the long-term potential.
Regardless of what happens, we think that these two do have a craft product, and we’re curious to see what sort of long-term sales they can generate from this.
