‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 3, episode 19 review: Enter the Kree; Daisy versus Mack
Just in case things were not crazy enough on Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” Tuesday night, the Kree had to finally turn up and get involved! What we got to see through this is that Hive has quite the inferiority complex.
Or, as it was described elsewhere, our Big Bad has a “thousand-year grudge.” The Kree were not altogether pleased with some of the experiments that Hive has been running, and they made that clear in a way that was not a typical sit-down by any means.
Was this battle a worthy distraction for Coulson and company? Unfortunately for SHIELD, what made matters worse for them was that Daisy was clearly becoming less and less of her old self. That fight with Mack more or less proves it. While Mack is still alive and is therefore not the “fallen agent” (at least for now), he did get to see the end results of her own transformation front and center. All Lincoln could do in this process was more or less sit down and watch, since there was still no cure.
At least Mack did succeed in something: Figuring out a way to stop some of Hive’s current work trying to transform any human into an Inhuman, regardless of genetic makeup. Unfortunately, this was more of a temporary hangup than a permanent end to his work, given that Daisy had the necessary blood in her system so that they could continue.
We’d say that this episode of “Agents of SHIELD” could’ve picked up steam a little bit faster, but when it did, we certainly had no complaints about the content. This episode was certainly intense, and a thrill ride from start to finish. Grade: B+.
