NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Former champ Sawyer Fredericks performs ‘Four Pockets’

Sawyer -

Remember how we’ve said time and time again with “The Voice” that they should be doing more to promote their former champions after they appear on the show? Well, we’re glad to see that the series is at least doing their part to ensure that this happens now.

On Tuesday night’s results show, we got a performance from season 8 champion Sawyer Fredericks as he came on to perform the super-good new single “Four Pockets,” which seems to be a pretty darn solid representation of the sort of artist he wants to be. Hopefully, this is a song that turns out to be a pretty big hit for him as he continues to step out and promote this.

Sawyer is the second former champ to appear on the show in recent weeks. Earlier this season, reigning champ Jordan Smith stopped by to perform his own new single, and hopefully this will be just the beginning of the alumni performances. We’d rather see the stars outside of the show perform in the finale, and give former contestants a chance to shine in the results show. We don’t know if any fan of (insert artist here) is going to suddenly watch live if they’re on it, especially when they can just see it on YouTube later.

Ultimately, we’ll just have to see what “The Voice” decides to do with Sawyer the rest of the way this season, but rest assured that we’re going to be around to give you more from all of these results shows the rest of the season.
