‘Outlander’ season 2, episode 4 ratings remain incredibly steady for Starz
We didn’t plan going into “Outlander” season 2 to be doing weekly ratings reports, but at the same time we also did not plan going this long without hearing word on a season 3 renewal. With that, we’re going to keep reporting these in hopes that it inspires Starz to make an announcement to.
After all, it does remain fairly good news for the network when it comes to live+same day viewing just how remarkably steady this show is. Per TV Series Finale, this past episode “La Dame Blanche” drew yet again a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is roughly the same as the two episodes that came before it. It did most the smallest number of total viewers so far this season in 1.17 million, but we don’t really think that this is anything to really worry or write home about. We’re ultimately talking a difference of just tens of thousands of viewers here.
As always, remember here that these live+same day viewers are just a small fraction of the overall equation for the show, which includes online streams, On-Demand viewings, repeats, and people who watch via their DVR. These are just the numbers that are the most readily-available, and are a nice jumping-off point.
Our stance on season 3 remains the same as it did before the premiere: It’s going to happen. If anything, we wonder if the delay is just due to logistics or some other internal matter. This show has put Starz on the map more than any other in terms of original content, exposure, and awards attention. We can see it lasting for many years to come.

considering the several venues to watch the show its no longer necessary for all viewers to watch at the polling time. I think that has a lot to do with it.

Ok, ep 204 demo is actually .27 and not .3, and that actual .27 is down from .39 for ep 201. Viewers are down from 1.457 for ep 201 to 1.165 for ep 204. It’s all in the chart at the link included in article. I’d bet unknown platforms extrapolate to a same conclusion, decreased viewership.

So, we have this article saying they should get renewed based on the numbers and you saying they shouldn’t. Let’s see.

I’m looking for where I said they shouldn’t. Nope. I don’t see it. But I did see Richard Kahan begging for live viewers on twitter.

I was extrapolating from your conclusion that there’s decreased viewership and if we’re basing renewal expectations on live viewing numbers, we should be concerned. Plus, I also saw Richard Kahan’s comments and it seemed like a red flag to me.
But the fact that the show is on Saturday night at 9:00 which is one of the worst nights for TV viewing and the fact that STARZ gives you so many options for viewing the show, including early viewing, I don’t know what to make of his begging for live viewers.
