‘UnREAL’ season 2 promos make light of editing process

While the second season of “UnREAL” on Lifetime may still be more than a month away, there is something that should make many fans of the show smile in the promos below. After all, it’s a reminder of what this show is really all about: Blowing the lid off of reality television as a genre.

These two videos feature Tiffany and Chantal, two contestants on the upcoming season of “Everlasting,” whose footage is completely manipulated by Quinn and Rachel to appear way more ruthless and cutthroat than ever before. It’s a way to spice up the show for drama, and unfortunately for these women, there’s really not too much that they can do about it.

Yet, shouldn’t they have known better than to come on a reality show like this, expecting that they were going to be treated equally? Probably, but somehow casting agents do continue to find young women from anywhere and everywhere who are interested in fame / expanding their brand to the point that they are willing to put themselves through this. Sometimes, they know who the leading man is in advance and simply are willing to put themselves through the nonsense to be with them.

This time around, the leading man is Darius Hill, a football stud who just so happens to have a nice-guy image. Yet, is there something underneath the surface that is a cause for concern? That’s something we should find out over the course of the season.
