‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5, episode 21 spoilers: ‘Last Rites’ synopsis hints further at ‘who will die?’ mystery
There are a few things now that we are starting to learn about the endgame for “Once Upon a Time” season 5. For one, the whole idea of a “reformed” Hades seems to be out the window as he has been playing games to a certain extent the whole time. Also, Hook is still a part of the equation, and is not gone yet despite being seemingly stuck in the Underworld for the time being.
Today, ABC released the synopsis for “Last Rites,” one that does hype up a certain level of danger, and in turn makes us even more concerned about who could end up losing their lives at the end of all of this:
“Emma, David, Regina, Robin and Henry are finally back home in Storybrooke and reunited with Snow, but, unfortunately, they still have to contend with Hades, who continues to deceive Zelena as he lays out his plan to use the all-powerful Olympian Crystal to take over the town. The heroes desperately search for a way to defeat Hades while Hook does the same in the Underworld, looking for those missing storybook pages. Regina and Robin take a more direct approach, which culminates in an epic showdown that will leave our heroes forever changed.”
Given that we saw a scene that looked like a funeral in the promo for this next episode, we have to assume the worst; more than that, we are perhaps more terrified for Robin than any other character after reading what we just did. We cannot imagine the show writing out Lana Parrilla, though killing off her character’s love would be a particularly devastating move, especially since she has been through this once before.
With this said, we don’t think people like Hook, Rumple, or even Zelena are out of the woods just yet. It’s a situation we will watch closely as we get closer to the finale airing.

Okay. Bear with me. That funeral? It may not be for a dead person.
Here’s my theory. Belle’s whole rationale for going under the sleeping
curse was that her father would be there to kiss her awake. Well… what
if something fatal happens to Mo French? No, he’s by no means the
“Heart of Storybrooke,” but BELLE could be. Rumple’s already tried True
Love’s Kiss and failed. So, with no apparent means of breaking the
curse… well, it won’t be the first time a sleeping heroine gets sealed
in a coffin and mourned. My money is on Mo French dying and it being
Belle’s funeral.
