‘Sherlock’ season 4: Premiere date speculation via Martin Freeman
What is this, “Sherlock” season 4 news about the premiere date that actually includes discussion about the premiere date? We’re only going to put those words in the title if we actually have something new to tell you, and after a long period of waiting, we are starting to get a reasonable timeframe for the return of the beloved series to the BBC.
For this, we turn to the oh-so-delightful Martin Freeman, who made it clear recently on “The Graham Norton Show” that he and co-star Benedict Cumberbatch “are back filming now and the three shows will … be out around Christmas.”
Does that mean that they will for sure be out around December 25? Remember, New Year’s Day is really not too far away from that, and it’s a pretty reasonable guess to think that around January 1 is the right time to get the beginning of the new season. New Year’s Day has been a remarkable air date for the show both for the third season, and then also the special “The Abominable Bride.” Think about it for a minute. This is a date that really makes sense given that there are not too many New Year’s traditions out there other than a parade or two, and in Great Britain they don’t have college football games to worry about. Therefore, there’s even more of a clean slate than there would otherwise be on the day.
Once there is some more news, you better believe we’ll have it for you here. The good news is that by the time it gets around to next spring, more than likely you will have already digested a full season of new episodes of the show.
