‘The Blacklist’ season 3: Who doesn’t attend Liz’s funeral?
Thursday night’s new episode of “The Blacklist” is just about here, and with that, you’re going to see something that may bring a tear to the eye of many fans out there: The memorial service for Elizabeth Keen.
Is the character really dead? We certainly understand if you are asking this question, and the show probably wants you to be asking that to a certain extent given some of the mysteries, twists, and turns that they have set up over the course of the show’s run. For the time being, though, it doesn’t appear that they are in a hurry to give you any answers. Instead, some characters will try to move on with a funeral service led by Cooper, which is especially sad given that he was recently the officiant for her attempted wedding to Tom.
What may also surprise you is who is not at the funeral. Reddington will be absent, and the same goes for his frequent partner Dembe. In talking about this further to Entertainment Weekly, Hisham Tawfiq had the following message to pass along:
“Dembe doesn’t even come to the funeral for Liz, and neither does Red [James Spader] … We can understand Red not going, maybe he’s just so heartbroken, but I thought that Dembe would either try to encourage him to go or, if he gave him his space, then I would go as a representation. But I didn’t go.”
While we wait for more news on Liz, there are many other major storylines this season that need to play out, whether it be the arrival of Red rival Alexander Kirk or the first appearance of Famke Janssen as Susan Hargrave, a woman with a complicated history with Tom.
