‘Quantico’ episode 19 review: Departures, and the search for a new bomb

Alex -How do you stop the terrorist at the center of “Quantico“? It’s certainly fair to be asking this particular question given what we’ve been through … let alone trying to figure out precisely who this person is. Even though she now has new people who are on her side, that is hardly a guarantee of anything.

With Shelby at Alex’s side at the end of the episode, the two made a revelation: Will was responsible for building a bomb with his “own hands,” though presumably not exactly because he wanted to. While his body fell to the ground in the closing seconds (we’re not sure what this means for his future just yet), he told Alex and Shelby about a bomb they may need to look for in a church. With that, we certainly do have quite a cliffhanger set up here! this wasn’t the most thorough future storyline we’ve seen, but we’ll take it.

When it comes to Caleb’s own covert operations with Systemics in the past, there is a part of us that relates them to the whole Jake Ballas / Rowan storylines on “Scandal”; we know that it is important, but it’s really hard to care. The same really goes for Alex and Drew, mostly because it’s harder to have an attachment to him given that he’s really only appeared in a fractured of the season so far. He’s struggling with the idea that he may not be medically-cleared to be an agent. He ended up leaving Quantico of his own volition per an announcement at the end of the episode.

In the end, Shelby managed to get Caleb some “help” in this timeline, though probably not in the way that she wanted. She also got a job offer following her graduation. With Caleb driving away, he became the second apparent departure in an episode where everyone was starting to think about their future. this also was where Rayna and Nimah were told how important they could be in counter-terrorism.

In the end, we’d say this was a solid foundation for the series. There was a ton of important information, but we can’t exactly say our jaws are on the ground, either. Grade: B.
