Finale Forecast: Will ‘The Blacklist’ season 3 solve Liz mystery by the end?
Is Elizabeth Keen on “The Blacklist” really dead? This is a question that the NBC series has delivered fluttered out there in the wind over the course of the past week and a half, and we’re still wondering if we’ll get an answer (and what it could be) by the time we make it to the finale. The network has a fourth season coming, and given that there has been no announcement regarding whether or not we will see a new lead cast on the show, we’re a little bit skeptical about if she’s really being buried on the next new installment.
With that, let’s dive into the latest edition of our Finale Forecast series not only charting what we imagine could be coming for Liz, but also Red and the rest of the show.
What could happen – We know that the final episodes this season will serve several purposes. For one, we’re going to meet Susan “Scottie” Hargrave, a powerful woman who has a history with Tom Keen. This storyline will help to set up a proposed spin-off, so we imagine that the finale will chart off Tom on a course that explains why he would need his own show.
As for Red, he will square off with an old rival in Alexander Kirk, and could undergo quite the emotional journey when it comes to dealing with his grief over Liz … who may or may not be actually dead. We imagine that’ll be at least addressed, even if Megan Boone does not appear on the show again this season.
What should happen – Give us 100% confirmation that Liz is alive (provided that our theory is correct), and then have an incredibly-clever explanation as to why and how this was pulled off. It needs to be something that makes sense within this world, and something that also makes sense for this character to do. We also want Red to even be surprised by the reveal, just to extract a little bit of vulnerability from him given how much he typically likes to be at the center of all the action. Also, we’d love at least a minor cliffhanger that gives us a tease of what the story will be for season 4, given this show always does tend to shift things around when it comes to the format every season.
