Fox to re-air ‘New Girl’ episode featuring Prince on Tuesday

While many people out there may remember Prince for his extraordinary performances or his rock-star persona, fans of TV comedy may also have fond memories of him courtesy of a “New Girl” season 3 episode, which aired right after the Super Bowl and featured him in a prominent guest-starring role as Jess and many of her friends found themselves attending the same party as him.

We were hoping that Fox would find a place for this episode at some point in their schedule, and we are now happy to confirm that they have figured this out. Per Entertainment Weekly, the network is going to re-air this episode Tuesday night at 9:30 p.m. Eastern time, which should give fans who have never seen it, or simply have not in a while, a chance to check it out again. It’s a very funny episode, and while it does feel slightly jarring to have such a big production and such a noteworthy guest-star there, Prince specifically gives us a few laughs as he skewers himself and also gives some of the other characters advice.

Following Prince’s death earlier this week, many of the cast members shared some of their memories of working with him on Twitter.

Zooey Deschanel – “Prince was a true gentleman, a king among men. He was as sharp and as talented as they come. I’m so glad I was lucky enough to work with him.”

Jake Johnson – “Meeting big stars is mostly disappointing in one way or another, but that was not the case w Prince. He was everything I hoped he’d be. When Prince did New Girl I asked if the pancake bit was true.He smiled, said no. Then said, “But I do make the best omelettes in the world.”

Lamorne Morris – “RIP to the man who didn’t walk…he Floated! Pleasure working with you! #Prince. Us over at New Girl miss ya already”
