‘Silicon Valley’ season 3 spoilers: Where Richard’s story picks up
The third season of “Silicon Valley” is (finally) going to be premiering on HBO Sunday night, and there’s a heck of a lot to look forward to here. It’s one of the funniest, strangest shows on TV, and it is both insanely smart while also still making elaborate jokes about part of the male anatomy.
Moving into the premiere episode on Sunday, the onus is probably going to be mostly on Richard finding out that he is no longer the CEO of Pied Piper, the same company that he created and worked tirelessly to get off of the ground. Where does he go from here? This is something that executive producer Alec Berg helped to set up in a preview chat with The Hollywood Reporter:
“Richard is battling for his life and also for the soul of the company. At the end of season two, they thought they had it made and then the rug got pulled out from under them. We have to kind of play that hand. So Richard’s no longer in control, and that’s where we’ll pick up. Essentially the arc of the season is that Richard is on the outs. Does he fight his way back into his company? Does he leave and start a competing venture? Does he make peace with whoever is brought in? Does he battle that person? Those were all the questions we were asking [when we started writing] the season.”
Berg also says (quite hilariously) in this interview that there are some people within the tech industry that have pitched ideas to come on in a cameo, but often have no idea what the show is really about, even to the point where they simply don’t work for the show at all.
