‘Shark Tank’ preview: Will Jarrett & Raja bring musical magic to the Tank?
Entertainment acts are a little bit of a rarity on “Shark Tank,” but at the same time it would be wrong to sit here and say that we had never heard of them appearing on the show before now. We’ve seen a movie, a band, and a Halloween scare company all try to get funding in the Tank before, and on Friday night’s new episode, we are going to be seeing two guys in Jarrett & Raja try to get an investment in their music / magic act in Las Vegas.
If you don’t recall these two guys being on TV before, they were on “America’s Got Talent” a few years back and performed during the live shows. That venue is a great platform for magic acts, even if it is somewhat limiting in that you basically only have a couple of minutes (or less) to impress the judges / voters. On “Shark Tank,” we imagine that they may have a little more freedom and creativity.
With that said, this isn’t a talent competition. Instead, it’s more about convincing the Sharks that this is something worthy of an investment, and something that they can get their money back on. It’s always going to be a little bit of a gamble since you have to convince people to buy tickets and show up. This is Las Vegas and there is of course an audience for magic, but there’s also a ton of competition.
We’re not sure if anyone is going to bite on this concept or not, but we certainly hope that they do if for no other reason than that we’re curious what the result would be in the real world.
