‘Shark Tank’ video: Can InchBug innovate the juice box?
Friday night’s “Shark Tank” has a wide array of products, but we gotta be honest when it comes to InchBug: We had no idea what they were pitching before we actually watched the sneak peek below. They just have a lot of different stuff going on in terms of their website, and in turn that meant a lot of different possibilities for what they could be putting onto the show.
In the end, though, what we see here is a pretty simple innovation that could keep a common juice-box problem from happening for kids: Juice getting all over the place when they squeeze the box. Hey, it’s not always a good idea for kids to do it, but they do. You just have to be prepared for it!
While we think there’s a good chance that this company could get an investment, it feels like there’s still more to this presentation beyond just this, since there’s talk about labels and much more in what they have going on in the presentation behind them. They’re going to have to be concise about their goals and their projections, and if they do that, maybe they have a shot.
The one thing that we see working against the company is simply a matter of timing. This is season 7, and many Sharks already have products that cater to the infant / toddler market already. Is this going to be seen as complimentary, or competitive in some way? That could properly determine whether or not there is an investment.
One way or another, we’ll be back tonight with a more in-depth review of what happens.
