ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic, and ‘Much Ado About Murder’
How do we continue to report on “Castle” episodes knowing what we do now? This is a question that we have admittedly wondered to ourselves in the aftermath of learning about Stana Katic’s impending exit from the show on Monday. It does still feel a little raw, mostly because you follow these actors and characters for so long that they feel like a part of your routine and your life.
However, it’d be a disservice in many ways for us to not report on or discuss the remainder of the show. Obviously it’s our job to do so, but we also do want to see the Beckett story through, and see how some of the other characters adapt to the changing tide. There’ll be time to see some of this, but the episode we’re specifically reporting on today (“Much Ado About Murder,” airing May 2) is probably more par for the course when it comes to typical “Castle” mysteries. The synopsis below makes that largely clear:
“After a movie star turned theater actor is mysteriously killed, Castle and Beckett go backstage and learn the star had more to worry about than just his lines.”
If you have not heard, this is also the episode that is going to feature an appearance from Nathan Fillion’s former “Firefly” co-star Jewel Staite, making her the third alum from the show to guest-star this season after Summer Glau and Adam Baldwin. Will she be a suspect? That’s hard to say, but we imagine that this will be a very different sort of character than the one we’re so accustomed to from the brilliant-but-canceled Fox series.

To me the Castle story ended at the end of season 7. We know how this season of whatever this show has been these past months ends. The small amount of Beckett we’ll see between now and then just aren’t interesting. Very much like a book you put down when the ending is obvious. It was great for most of 7 seasons, but all things end. This ended awhile back.

Castle gave 6 and 1/2 good seasons before cannon was foresaken. What fans will get is a memorable final episode, probably not to everyone’s likings, but memorable none the less.

What do you mean how do you continue ? Did I miss read the headline, it says Castle, not Stana Katic. Not a very professional statement. Get over it there are still episodes to review.

” Brilliant-but-cancelled FOX series”? I never saw Firefly but after hearing about it through Castle I went in search to find out more. I found that FOX was right to cancel it. Basically critics found it ill conceived and executed and the only things humorous were the obvious screw ups. I never saw Nathan nor Stana before Castle but will always remember Stana as Beckett not so with Nathan.
