‘Outlander’ season 2, episode 2 ratings: How did ‘Not in Scotland Anymore’ fare?
For those of you who have been wondering whether or not the second episode of “Outlander” outshone the premiere in terms of total viewers or the 18-49 demographic, we’ve got that answer for you below.
Specifically, we though that “Not in Scotland Anymore” was going to be a curious test for the show. The premiere had a series-high 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, and there were even some factors working against it. For example, the premiere was available early on Starz’s app, and the ratings we talk about in this article, are only for live+same day on TV. It was easy to assume last week that many people watched the premiere early, and then just didn’t choose to watch the show itself live.
Now that we’ve looked at the ratings for episode 2, though, we’re not sure that theory holds up. Per TVbythenumbers, this episode posted a 0.3 rating, which is a pretty steep drop off from the premiere number. Sure, it is inevitable that there’ll be a decrease following the premiere of any cable show (look at “The Walking Dead” for evidence), but we didn’t expect it to be particularly steep.
Granted, we don’t mean for this article to make anyone even remotely afraid of the show’s future. We still think that a season 3 renewal is almost inevitable, and we’re shocked that it hasn’t been announced yet. Also, a 0.3 is in line with the season 1 average, and you have to once again remember that this is a show that is watched heavily via On-Demand, DVRs, and Starz’s other online streams. It airs frankly at a time when many people aren’t home, so they often choose to catch up on it later.
