‘Chicago Med’ episode 15 preview: A complicated delivery

“Chicago Med” has formed somewhat of a pattern throughout the first 14 or so episodes of its first season, and it goes somewhat like this: A patient comes in with an unusual medical case, and it tests everyone at the hospital, in particular the doctor assigned to their case. Sometimes, difficult decisions need to be make that blur the lines between right and wrong.

“Inheritance” is the title for the next new episode airing on NBC, and if you look at the synopsis below, you can get some other news in terms of what you can expect to see:

“Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) deal with a 16-year-old patient suffering from abdominal pain who adamantly refuses any drugs for fear of winding up like her drug-addicted father. Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) relives a bit of his past when a patient, along with his brother, turn out to be former high school classmates whose past history with him is anything but stellar. Meanwhile, Dr. Choi (Brian Tee) works on a woman 32 weeks pregnant who has a big reason to do everything in her power not to deliver the child, much to the dismay of Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson), Charles and the hospital staff. Elsewhere, April (Yaya DaCosta) is less than thrilled to discover her brother Noah (guest star Roland Buck III) has an enterprising side-business that involves her new boyfriend Tate (guest star Deron J. Powell). Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) avoids meeting up with his sister Claire (guest star Christina Brucato) so he doesn’t have to deal with family issues.”

The promo below really does its best to hone in primary on the delivery story, and some of the complications that are obviously present here for the characters as they try to figure out why this mother does not want to welcome a child in the world. As she professes, this is “not her baby.” We’ll have to wait and see what that means.
