After ‘Castle’ season 8, what could Stana Katic do next?

It’s been a couple of days now since the shocking Stana Katic – “Castle” news was first confirmed by ABC, and it’s still hard to digest. However, we don’t want to sit here and act like this show is the last time we’ll ever see the actress on TV; it may be sad that this stage of her career seems to be ending, but there are so many other opportunities out there for her.

In the immediate future, we know that she has worked recently on a number of movies including “Sister Cities” and “The Rendezvous,” and she has worked on a number of small pictures throughout her run on “Castle.” Even if she lands a new TV at some point, these films will probably continue to be a part of her life.

Since we’re a TV site, though, we want to focus more on what her future could be here. When it comes to pilot season, Katic and her co-star Tamala Jones were probably told about their fate on the show a little late in the game, since many other major pilots have already been cast for the fall. It’s possible that they could be added in the summer on one of these shows, but we’re not banking on that yet. Also, maybe they want to take a break after working long hours on this show for many years. Who could blame them?

With Stana now, we think there’d be something fun in seeing her play someone completely opposite Kate Beckett on an established show. We’d love to see her do a comedy a la “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” or “Silicon Valley,” where she could play someone who is completely off the rails and wacky. Or, wouldn’t it be fun to see her play a villain on some sort of comic-book show, or a complicated character on a period piece? The thing here is that networks know that she has a large fan following, and they also know that she’s someone who cares about the quality of the work she puts out there. We imagine that there are no shortage of offers coming her way, and that’ll probably continue in the weeks to come.
