‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 3, episode 17 review: The life and death of the Secret Warriors
We certainly hope that the Secret Warriors get a chance to shine soon on Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD,” mostly because they don’t seem to be around anymore following the events of Tuesday night’s new episode. Coulson disbanded the group given the infection that was starting to spread among the Inhumans, and it was all thanks to Hive and his latest tactics.
What was so smart about much of this episode was how it was in part constructed around a central mystery, and that was the supposed death of Gideon Malick. Someone on the Warriors was behind it, and it first it was Lincoln who has the accusations flying his way. He responded with the sort of temper that really did not help his cause in the slightest, so let’s just put things that way. However, it was soon revealed that it was Daisy instead who was impacted by Hive, which caused her to go after Malick and the embark on a trail of destruction around everything that SHIELD knows and cares for.
In terms of action, this was awesome, and seeming Chloe Bennet play someone so unhinged was really fun. However, at the same time it was pretty terrifying for the team to realize just what the double-edged sword is when it comes to working with these people. While there may be advantages that come with working with the team, there are also some pretty significant drawbacks.
As terrifying as much of this was, there was still something kind of funny about the close of the episode. Even in the midst of Daisy’s chaos, is Hive really that stoked to go off and spend Malick’s money? We guess so, and it caps off a very good “Agents of SHIELD” episode capped with some good Coulson speeches, and a few nice moments for Fitz and Simmons, as well. Grade: B+.
