TV Quick Hits: ‘Ballers’ season 2 premiere date; ‘Aquarius’ return; Michael Strahan leaves ‘Live!’
Sunday, July 17 is now set to be the show’s official return date, and the time is 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. The show will be following “The Night Of,” a new drama series premiering the week prior on July 10 at 9:00. It will have a 90-minute premiere before settling down into one-hour installments.
“Aquarius” also sets return – David Duchovny had a big January and February courtesy of the return of “The X-Files,” and now his other primetime show is set to return. The second season of “Aquarius” will premiere with a two-hour, commercial-free episode on Thursday, June 16 starting at 9:00. The only break in the action is set to be a one-minute local news break in the second hour.
Hey, it’s a way to get the low-rated show some headlines, and given that its ratings are so low, they’re not losing as much ad revenue as they would be for another show.
Michael Strahan leaving “Live!” – It looks like we could be moving back to “Live! with Kelly” once more unless ABC gets a new permanent co-host by the fall. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Strahan is going to be leaving “Live! with Kelly and Michael” at the end of the summer in order to take a full-time gig at “Good Morning America.” We’re not sure we get the move since one gets you a name in the title and a chance to sleep a little later in the morning … but hey, whatever works for him.
