‘Better Call Saul’ season 3: More future chatter on ‘Talking Saul,’ Gus Fring rumors
While there were not as many “Better Call Saul” postmortems online after the finale, luckily we do have a new episode of “Talking Saul” that aired on AMC. This special gave us an opportunity to get a little more insight on the finale, season 2 as a whole, and also what is coming up.
One thing that was also interesting to learn, for example, was that Jimmy’s flashback with his father was filmed during season 1, but it fit really well here when it came to how it showed more of why Jimmy decided to be more of a wolf than a sheep in this world.
Another thing? That the show is actually in the process of making season 3 already, as Vince Gilligan noted to the crowd:
“We’re figuring this out day by day in the writers room … We are figuring it out as we go. If you knew from the get-go, it would make life easier, but a lot of vitality would go out of it.”
At the end of “Talking Saul” Chris Hardwick did press Gilligan and Peter Gould on the whole “Fring’s Back” rumor and the episode-title conspiracy theory, and let’s just say that the two showrunners did not exactly deny that this was anything but intentional. Will Giancarlo Esposito be on the upcoming third season? We’d say that signs point to yes; we’d also say that this was probably the cameo from a “Breaking Bad” character that was planned for the finale but eventually written out.
