‘Poldark’ season 2, and one of the most bizarre Aidan Turner headlines ever

The second season of “Poldark” is going to be premiering on BBC One later this year, and we are here today with a story that does certainly surprise us in many ways. After all, we’re talking about the idea that some point out there apparently wondered about whether or not Aidan Turner was right for the role … because of his appearance. Seriously? Did these people struggle to imagine some of those scenes on the show’s first season? Turner has become a heartthrob among viewers for his portrayal of Ross Poldark, and it is arguably because of his casting that the show has become one of the biggest hits on all of British TV, let alone the rest of the world.

Speaking to the Mirror, show composer Anne Dudley made it clear that Mammoth Screen managing director Damien Timmer apparently approached her at one point with concerns over the attractiveness about the show’s lead, something that was apparently unfounded rather quickly:

“It is true, Damien did ask me, ‘Do you think women will find Aidan attractive?’ I said, ‘I don’t think you will have a problem.”

The whole idea of this story is rather bizarre to us, especially since it really minimizes the whole idea of who Turner really is: An actor. Do we think that there are people who watch the show because they enjoy watching him in action? Sure, but if he was a terrible actor, they’d all tune out. It is Turner’s talent that really attracts people to this show more than anything else, and because of that we can envision this show lasting for some time still. We’re just left in this terrible holding pattern until it returns with new episodes.
