‘The Good Wife’ season 7 spoilers: Josh Charles returning for series finale
For anyone out there concerned that “The Good Wife’s” series finale would not serve as a proper tribute to the series, breathe a little bit easier: We’re getting more and more evidence now that the show really is going to do everything that they can to have this be a real celebration of the product you’ve had a chance to see over the years.
The latest bit of evidence comes courtesy of getting Josh Charles back for one finale installment as Will Gardner. Per TVLine, Charles is returning for the series finale on May 8, for what we have to assume is either a flashback or a dream sequence. This character was killed off back during season 5, and while he has since returned to direct, this is a chance to actually see the character on screen once more. We’re excited for it, mostly because Will Gardner was one of the great loves of Alicia Florrick’s life, and this may help to create some parallels between him, Peter, and her new love Jason Crouse.
Now, if only we could get an appearance from Archie Panjabi … though we’re not holding our breath on that given the way that the character was written out. Still, it would have been nice to have one final scene featuring her and Julianna Margulies in the way in which it was meant to be, not the horrible split-screen action we got during season 6.
We’ll have more on the series finale as we get closer to it airing; for now, we’re smiling just at the thought of getting to see Charles on the show once more.
