‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ season 3: Has Netflix comedy already been renewed?

Today, we imagine that there are a few binge-watchers out there who are already going crazy about the return of one show in particular to Netflix: “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” This is a comedy that was consistently hilarious in its first season, and as a result of that, expectations have been fairly high for the second.

The great news now is that while you work your way through the episodes, there is no need to be concerned about the long-term future. Several months ago the streaming service already announced that they were renewing the series for a third season, so there are some more adventures for Kimmy and company coming at some point in the future. This show, executive-produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, has come a long way since its beginnings as a pilot, and we still wonder if there are some regrets out there from the people who passed on the concept.

As for when the new season would premiere, that’s something that is still somewhat of a question mark. We’d be somewhat surprised if the show does not return in 2017 with new episodes, even if there are some schedule things that may need to be worked out in between. The great thing about Netflix as a whole is that it operates somewhat similarly to a British network in that there is really no “season” that is important for ratings. You make a great show, and you put it on whenever it is ready. By the same token, you give people the time needed to be creative during the hiatus. This is a model that we’ve also seen followed by a show like “Louie,” which airs mainly when Louis CK has the material necessary for it to come back.
