‘Shark Tank’ video: Can Petnostics sell the Sharks on pet sample method?

Sharks -Here’s the funny thing about Petnostics as a product on Friday night’s new episode of “Shark Tank“: The concept is not bad. Vet bills and frequent visits can be very expensive, and if there is a way that you can check up on your four-legged friend at home or even save some money at the vet, why wouldn’t you want to do that? This app is a way to help ensure that your pet stays healthy, and it does so via collecting a urine sample and collecting the data on the cap.

Of course, herein lies the issue that many of the Sharks are concerned about: The urine itself. This is not the sort of thing that many pet owners like to deal with. Sure, many of us do pick up after our dog when they do their other business, but this is a little bit different than trying to get under there with a cup and capture it. There’s a good chance things could go very awry, very quickly.

This is why the sneak peek below, while funny, also has a great degree of truth to it. The Sharks know that many pet owners are not going to be willing to go through the process of getting a urine sample, even with what looks akin to a selfie stick for collecting it. (Ew.)

Ultimately, this is a toss-up for the Sharks, given that it is a useful idea that is unfortunately somewhat hampered by the notion that not every pet owner out there is going to be okay going through the process.
