‘The Blacklist’ season 3, episode 19 spoilers: First look at a funeral

The Blacklist logo any season“The Blacklist” is going to be keeping one of its biggest memories close to the vest for a little while to come, and with that, we’re of course talking about the big “death” that happened at the end of Thursday night’s new episode. (Warning: Just as you would expect, there are some spoilers ahead if you are behind with the show.)

Still with us? Then read on for further examination on a super-important question.

Is Elizabeth Keen really dead? What we do know at the moment is that the show definitely wants you to think so. We saw her put within a body bag tonight, just as we also saw her stop breathing. All signs point that way, but we’ve certainly seen over the years that there are ways in the TV world to cause someone’s heart to stop and start again later. Also, Red wanted his team to care for her body rather than a typical morgue.

The photo below over at Entertainment Weekly even shows a funeral, but at the same time, we have yet to see any evidence that it is her body going into the ground. It’s very easy to have a closed-casket funeral and to keep her true fate a secret while the likes of Mr. Solomon and other threats are more taken care of. This would in turn give the show some more steam moving forward into the finale, and this also could be a convenient way to write out Megan Boone for her maternity leave. (There’s no confirmation per se that this happens on Thursday’s new episode, but it could be coming up soon.)

We’ll have a chance to see what happens over the weeks ahead, but for the time being, we’re certainly not ruling out the possibility that this is a character who emerges from this somehow in one piece.
