‘NCIS’ season 13 spoilers: First look at final Michael Weatherly episode
For those of you out there who have been particularly curious as to how “NCIS” season 13 is going to end, and we know that there have been more of you than usual thanks to one notable departure, we now have the first details on that very subject.
Today, CBS announced that their May 17 finale is entitled “Family First,” and the synopsis below gives you a little bit of an idea as to what you can anticipate unfolding over the course of the hour:
“NCIS, FBI and MI6 continue an international manhunt for an escaped British spy who is targeting current and former agents.”
First things first, it is interesting that Michael Weatherly and his character of Tony DiNozzo are not even mentioned here, given that this does mark his last episode on the show. To go along with that, we do also wonder whether or not this story makes it possible for Ziva to at least get a mention or reference, given that she is one of the most prominent former agents out there. (We’d still love a Cote de Pablo cameo, but we haven’t heard anything suggesting it is happening.) The structure here is smart for Tony to bid farewell, since there is going to be a tribute to the past one way or another thrown in here. We’re ultimately just going to have to wait and see precisely how this story comes to a close … but we are definitely looking forward to it.

PP is already promoting the new guy and telling everyone we will love him and his plotline and that MW is totally on board and blah, blah, blah. The damage control has already started, before they even come on the show.

PP posted a rehearsal photo on Twitter of Abby saying goodbye to Tony in the elevator. PP was dressed in her usual Abby attire but MW was wearing very odd casual pants. If that is his wardrobe for this scene, he looks silly.

To be fair if we look at the full press release it’s says *MICHAEL WEATHERLY’S FINAL EPISODE*. So they do mention that…

While the title of the article mentions Weatherly, the episode synopsis does not. I have this sinking feeling that Tony’s departure will be the C plot, or the B plot at best. In Gary Glasberg written episodes Gibbs is ALWAYS the A plot, plus I’m sure the story will be written as to try and generate interest in the two new characters being introduced as potential regulars for next season. Mr. Glasberg has never seemed to consider DiNozzo as anything but comic relief or a minor player in some other character’s big drama.

Well we already talked about your ABC plot order. At the time I sadly agree that that might be correct, but what I am now getting from this press release is:
A plot – Tony and some other former agents (maybe Ziva) are being hunted,
B plot – this two new FBI and MI6 agents are helping with the investigation and manhunt…

Perhaps your guess is right and Tony will be truly central and actually somehow have some excitement and drama rather than Gibbs for a change. I hope that the story doesn’t turn into not much more than a big nod to “tiva” though. My hope is that it’s a big final nod to hero Tony.

I think it would be only fair if Tony is the center of this arc. After all this is HIS farewell…
