Is ‘Chicago PD’ season 3, episode 20 new tonight? Assorted news items
For the second straight week, we come bearing some not-so-happy news for everyone excited to get more of “Chicago PD” on the air: There is no new installment coming your way on NBC tonight. The simple reason for that is strictly that the network is waiting until Wednesday, May 4 to bring the show back, and they are using the time until then for repeats and some other assorted projects.
For example, tonight the network is airing the two-hour premiere of the reality series “Strong,” and as a result of that it is preempting both “Chicago PD” and “Law & Order: SVU.” That is a little bit of a shame given that we like having repeats of the show on the air, but it makes sense from a marketing point of view to use “The Voice” as a launching pad for their new shows. Given its status as one of the highest-rated shows on TV, wouldn’t you want to get a show off to a great start using it, as well?
While we wait for the show to return, here are some good resources to check out.
1. New synopsis – Here, you can take a look at what to expect from the show’s first episode back. Here’s a couple of hints: Voight hears that his son may be back in town, and we could also see further development of the Burgess / Roman relationship.
2. Finale Forecast – Here, you can get our take for what could be coming for the season 3 finale airing next month.

It would be a nice change of pace for a show not to end the season with your typical nail biter scenario (which are almost always predictable on which way they will ultimately end anyway). I imagine Roman and Ruzek will have some kind of altercation but probably not big enough for a finale. Typically, it’s a “will they or won’t they” die type ending. But, as long as they don’t mess with Linstead, I can deal with whatever it is.
