‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 3, episode 16 review: Hive shatters Malick; the Secret Warriors are coming!
For anyone who was questioning just how terrible Hive really is, we really got a sense of that on Tuesday night’s new episode of Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD.” This was an hour that featured the latest shocking death in the present … and then also some news regarding a near-death experience in the past.
Let’s start with your present death: Malick’s daughter, who the Monster Formerly Known as Grant Ward killed right in front of him. This further cemented the status of Hive as a major power player in this world, and also could mean that Malick’s grand plans are all going completely up in smoke. This episode ended with Malick telling him that there is no longer anything to fear, but would you believe him? Never in a million years.
If this wasn’t enough evidence of precisely how screwed everyone within SHIELD could be by this big threat, they had to deal with another one in Giyera, who is becoming more and more of a problem. The entire team is now in danger aboard their ship, and there are only a few select people capable of helping them save the day: The Secret Warriors! We could be seeing Daisy and Lincoln rounding up their super-team, and doing what they can to save the day. It’s nice that they’ve still got it together emotionally as Lincoln opened up to her about the incident of him nearly killing a former girlfriend, which led to him heading to Afterlife in the first place.
If you like action, this was certainly a great episode for that. It also was dramatic, and yet we feel slightly let down that what we’re really excited to see (the Warriors) is being saved until next week. Grade: B-.
