NBC’s ‘The Voice’ rankings: Alisan Porter, Kata Hay, Bryan Bautista lead team Christina Aguilera

The Voice -

The Live Playoffs for “The Voice” start tonight, so it’s with that in mind that we’re happy to be bringing back the contestant rankings. We’re doing these team-by-team this week, mostly because we’re not dealing with any cross-team vocal combat at the moment. That’ll change next week.

For this article, we’re speaking specifically about the one team that is really looking like a powerhouse more so than any other: Team Christina Aguilera. We don’t know how you can see anything else when you look at how beastly her roster is. Not only are there great singers in here, but also big personalities and people who’ve received plenty of airtime throughout the season so far. We know that the show would love to finally have a female coach win a season, and she’s definitely got the talent here for that to happen.

As always, we’re basing our personal rankings on performance quality, screen time, and past voting history for similar artists on the show.

5. Ryan Quinn – We feel for Ryan in some ways, because he’s not exactly last on our list because he did anything wrong. He’s just on the best team this season, and he’s the one stolen contestant left of this group. Therefore, we think that when push comes to shove in the results later this week, Christina is more likely to pick someone she already knows from before than a relatively new face.

4. Tamar Davis – That “Lady Marmalade” battle performance was something fierce! Typically we’d say that Tamar is the sort of artist who would go very far into the competition on Christina’s team, since she has quite a bit in common with her stylistically. (Hey, we did just mention a song she’s known for.) Here’s the issue: This team is STACKED. Therefore, Tamar needs to both bring it and get America on her side to overtake someone else.

3. Kata Hay – Typically, country singers end up being a cut above the rest in this competition when they’re on Team Blake, but they are still pretty popular regardless and Kata’s got a super-unique old-school voice. We’re not sure she’s got the inroads that Bryan and Alisan do right now, but we’d be surprised not to see her in the mix over the course of this week.

2. Bryan Bautista – There’s a lot to enjoy here from Bryan. He’s a repeat contestant, has a great story that comes from humble beginnings as the “singing usher,” and you can tell that he’s worked hard for this. There are a lot of pop – R&B singers in the game right now, but we think that he’s got the charisma and chops to stand out from the crowd.

1. Alisan Porter – If we were doing rankings for all 20 artists left this week, we’d still have Alisan ranked #1. That’s a huge testament to how talented a singer she really is. Her voice can do anything, and you add a little bit of pre-show fame to that plus an edit that has strategically placed her at the end of many episodes of the show, then we’re seeing her in a Jordan Smith or Sawyer Fredericks sort of position entering the live shows.
