‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: Here’s your finale title…
If “Arrow” executive producers Wendy Mericle and Marc Guggenheim wanted to create as much confusion and mystery as possible regarding their upcoming season 4 finale, then here’s some good news: Mission accomplished!
Per Guggenheim’s Twitter account, the last episode of this season is entitled “Schism,” which is probably about as obscure as you’re going to get unless this really is some sort of esoteric DC Comics reference that even we don’t get. For those unfamiliar with the word a “schism” typically refers to some sort of divide or split, and that could mean characters being torn apart in some way … but that’s only one interpretation. It’s a little bit of a weird title only because this is not a word typically in the vocabulary of the show. Heck, it’s a word that almost no one uses anymore because it’s so strange to say out loud. Here’s a mission: Go to a coffee shop and say it three times out loud, just to see if anyone stares at you.
As noted previously, this episode will air on Wednesday, May 25, and will be the culmination of a stretch of episodes dealing with the aftermath of Laurel Lance. The show returns with new episodes on April 27 with “Canary Cry,” an episode that will feature Diggle potentially starting to spiral over Andy’s betrayal, and the responsibility he feels for Laurel’s death as a result of it. This is going to be tough to watch as a Diggle fan, but probably amazing from a television standpoint given that David Ramsey may be the strongest actor on the entire series.
