‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9, episode 20 review: Sheldon’s arrest record; Howard’s discomfort
What happens when you throw Sheldon Cooper into the wilderness, or at least a cabin with bad cell-phone signal? Well, you get Thursday night’s new episode of “The Big Bang Theory“!
To us, the most entertaining part of this half-hour was getting a chance to see Raj become completely obsessed with Bernadette’s pregnancy, even to the point where he bought her relentless gifts and wanted to be there for every part of it. We feel like for the most part, this all stems from his own desire to have a family and be a good dad, and he is not anywhere near that in his life right now. We’re not entirely sure where things stand at the moment with Emily, but if they’re together they are not even close to marriage.
In the end, Howard got over some of his insecurity concerned Raj’s role in the pregnancy, and they all came together for a super-sweet moment listening to the child’s heartbeat for the first time.
Elsewhere, Sheldon going to the woods led to a reasonably-entertaining game of “Never Have I Ever,” where he admitted to having an arrest record because of a squabble with a police officer over not getting cited for jaywalking. Leonard let it out about his secret bank account, and he and Penny had a little bit of a fight. This was mostly filler, though, if we’re honest. Nothing really happened, and while moderately funny we won’t remember it years down the road.
If nothing else, this episode was great just for the giant teddy bear alone. Anytime Raj gets overly protective, we smile big-time. Grade: B+.

To us this episode was a deal breaker.
Being disappointed from one episode to the other (or perhaps let down?) due to the lack of any real story line or funny quirks of one thing … but Sheldon’s arrest story and everyone being shocked about it?
Have we forgotten about Sheldon going to jail in S03E16 for doing the same crap he always does but to to a judge?
If that doesn’t count as getting arrested then pardon me, but as far as we’re concerned the writers have completely screwed up this time. It’s either that, or this season takes place in an alternate universe where Sheldon never went to court for running a red light. You tell me :)
