‘Shadowhunters’ season 2 order upped to 20 episodes
For everyone out there who loved the first season of “Shadowhunters,” you better be prepared for a lot more of the story inspired by “The Mortal Instruments.”
As Jason Lynch from Adweek points out while at the Freeform Upfronts (thanks to SpoilerTV for the heads-up), the upcoming second season will run for 20 episodes. This is a healthy bump up from the 13 episodes that the drama had in its first season, and it puts it more on par with “Pretty Little Liars” and many of the other extremely-successful shows airing on the network.
As Lynch points out, the show was the subject of a lot of attention at the upfronts, and we are not even remotely surprised by this when you think about the landscape in which it was launched. This was really the first original series to come on the rebranded Freeform, and when you consider the DVR numbers, international popularity, and source material on which the show is based, it is pretty easy to figure out why in the world the network would want to keep it around for a long time moving forward.
We ultimately see there being two key components to determining how long the series lasts: Its popularity on the network, and just how much source material is out there to adapt. For the time being, though, there’s nothing to worry about. Just sit back, enjoy the storytelling, and we will wait and see what happens from here. The show is still a ways away from its launch.

There is no better feeling then to watch a show for the first time and then hear it’s been picked up for another season and there are other fans, great feeling.

Started off slow–and I still think the lead actress is weak–but I heart Malec something fierce and I ended up really enjoying the show as a whole.

Hey, ChrisGa, how are ya? I also see you collect comics; I’m loving those upvotes, what comics and characters are you into? The lead on Shadowhunters does need work, and she almost reminds me of how annoying the leads in Vampire Diaries and True Blood used to be, but she’s got potential to improve, hopefully, just like Jace’s butt cut hair but I wouldn’t push any part of him out of bed. He looks a lot better than that bony a$$ version in the film, although I liked his attitude and accent.

I’m old school, so mostly Marvel and DC, although on occasion I see something outside of those two that looks interesting. Huge fan of team books, love the dynamics, so I’m always up for anything Avengers/X-Men related at Marvel–although I’m enjoying parts of those franchises now, neither are quite as special for me as they were in the eighties when you only had two or three apiece–and Justice League/Legion/Titans at DC. Fact is, there are few team books I won’t try at least once, especially if they have a character I love. Speaking of, I’ve always been drawn to the decidedly non-A-list characters–Monica Rambeau is probably my all-time favorite Avenger(although I wish they’d never stripped her of the Captain Marvel moniker–Danvers will always be Ms. Marvel to me no matter what they tell me). Numerous others but you get the drift. You and I probably have alot in common on movies too as I see you’re a horror/sci-fi fan as am I.
Like I said, Shadowhunters grew on me; the acting in the first couple episodes, outside of Magnus and Simon (who’s the hottest dude on the show to me, followed closely by Alec), was positively dire but almost everyone got better as the season went along. You’re probably right about the lead, although Nina Dobrev never bothered me until later seasons when I began to hate Elena. Now, Sookie Stackhouse, I can’t stand; worst character on True Blood for me and I ha5e how Anna played her.

Anna Paquin was great as Sookie until Alan Ball left the series, and everything got shot to s#$t. Brian Buckner should never be allowed to showrun again, and I mean ever, until there is undeniable proof that he should. We usually have the same tastes in guys on tv, don’t we, lol. Simon is super hot to me and the lead (I still don’t know her name) not seeing how hot he was mystifies me, because Jace is just a leather coat wearing jockey jerk. Simon is the type I go for until I saw Alec shirtless using his parabatai (I love that word) to find Jace. That chest was easily in the top 10 of new chests that I’ve seen this year (on tv;). When I grew up I was all Marvel/DC, but DC was always my favorite, until recently with the new 52 pee-you!!! I like many variations on Justice League/Legions/Titans, but I really loved those other teams like Infinity Inc and Justice Society, the Outsiders and Doom Patrol, because we had older teams and weird teams, they fit all flavors. Do you know Monica Rambeau is probably my favorite member of the Avengers too, and in my top 3 of heroes period? She needs a rebranding and I hate that Carol was rebranded and just took the name without asking Monica, so rude and disrespectful and Monica, her powers, her background have always been way more interesting to me. She should be in the movie, tv, cartoons, and the various lunchboxes and cereal covers, overly advertised like Wolverine used to be and now the Avengers.

Yes, we do have very similar taste in guys; Simon’s way hot, as is Alec and the guy who plays Valentine. Jace does little to nothing for me.
I think I’m also more DC than Marvel and I also loved anything JSA/Infinity Inc./All Star Squadron/Young All-Stars related. Also was a big fan of DP, Suicide Squad and L.E.G.I.O.N.
Monica is probably in my all-time time Top 5 as well; glad she’s being featured more in the Avengers/Ultimates titles. And Carol will always be Ms. Marvel to me (and I hate that they replaced her iconic costume with that ugly mess she wears now).
