A ‘Royal Pains’ season 8 promo to hit you right in the feels
Come Wednesday, May 18 (why premiere it during May sweeps?), the final season of “Royal Pains” is going to premiere on USA, and the latest preview below may be grab your heartstrings enough to make you wish you were in the Hamptons with HankMed already.
The funny thing with this show is just that: It’s still trying to be funny. This show wouldn’t have it any other way. Sure, there are plenty of dramatic moments, but this show never forgets that there is a light, breezy air about it. It’s the last show in what we consider the original Characters Welcome era, so in that way it is representative of more than just one show ending. It’s the last close link in our brain to a “Monk” or a “Psych” or a “Burn Notice,” shows that we loved for many years that have been long over.
As for how the story ends, the promo suggests that perhaps the end for HankMed is nigh, which would depress us immensely. Our dream ending would be for Hank, Evan, and the rest of the crew to find a way to keep doing what they are doing, and we can just imagine them running into random medical crises at opportune times for the rest of their lives.
Also, can Jeremiah and Divya happen in the final season? Who do we gotta talk to in an effort to make that happen? We know that there are only a small handful of episodes left, but hopefully the writers have some great things in store for us.

The “Characters Welcome” promo was as good as the shows it represented. When Royal Pains goes, they’re all gone, and so am I . It was great television and great fun while it lasted, but USA has absolutely nothing interesting to me now.
