Reality Rally 2016: Reality stars, the public, and charity join in Temecula; how to get involved
This weekend, we’re extremely proud to be a part of an event that we’ve heard many great things about over the years that celebrates reality television while also giving back to a great cause: The annual Reality Rally taking place in Temecula Valley in southern California. This year, it is a three-day charity event from April 7-9, with the money raised going to a wonderful cause in Michelle’s Place Breast Cancer Research Center.
Why should you want to attend? It’s basically a way to join your love of reality television with giving to a great cause. More than a hundred reality TV stars will be present from original “Survivor” winner Richard Hatch to Johnny Mac from this past season of “Big Brother” (see full list here), so odds are there are a few people attending from a show that you love and will get a chance to meet.
Depending on what your personal passion may be, there are several different events happening this weekend that you can attend in order to get involved. We’ve got a brief detailing of some of them below, but be sure to head over to the official site for further information and specific addresses.
Thursday, April 7 – A “Lip Sync Showdown” is taking place at the Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook, which will feature reality stars facing off against fans / other competitors. The event runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. (which is of course Pacific time). The event’s free to watch!
Friday, April 8 – There will be a red-carpet event and casino night taking place at the Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula starting at 5:00 and running until 10:00. There’ll be a wide array of games and festivities to take part in, and you can buy tickets at the door. Also, we’ll be there personally covering the event, so make sure you stop by and say hello to us!
Saturday, April 9 – Starting at 9:30 a.m. at Temecula City Hall Square and Grounds, there will be an “Amazing Race” style game featuring teams of fans paired with a reality star. Many of the tickets to take part in the game itself are now closed, but you can still watch. Later that day starting at 4:00 p.m. there will be a celebrity chef showcase and festival also taking place in the same location. You can also buy tickets for this at the door, come in, and enjoy!
We spoke recently to the event’s founder and “Survivor: Gabon” alum Gillian Larson, who passed along this message for those of you out there who are even just casual reality TV enthusiasts:
“I absolutely believe that this is a magical opportunity for people who are fans of reality TV, a chance to meet [some participants], find out who they are, find out about their shows … It’s a magical opportunity to meet so many people in one place, while having fun — for funds!”
We’ll have coverage of the red carpet coming up next week after the event is over, so be sure to come back then and check it out. If you’re still interested in donating, one great way to do it (and a way that we’ve personally done ourselves) is by going over to the roster page on the Reality Rally site and giving to your reality star of choice’s charity campaign.
