MTV’s ‘Awkward’ season 5, episode 17 preview: Fireworks on the 4th of July

One of the things that is somewhat fun about the second half of “Awkward” season 5 is for the first time really ever, we’re getting a chance to see more of what happens over the summer! For almost any show that is set either in high school / college, this is almost the forgotten time that nobody thinks about. Just look back at how many other shows out there actually give you a Fourth of July special … even ones that air during the main network TV season seem to forget more or less about it.

Next week’s new episode of the MTV comedy is fittingly titled “Fireworks,” and if you look at the attached synopsis below right now, you can get some other news right now when it comes to what to expect (via TV Guide):

“Jake arranges for Jenna and Tamara to work at the country club on July 4th; and Sully plans an after-hours party on the golf course.”

What we learned through the preview for this episode is that we’re going to see potentially Jake have to fire two women he used to date for not doing a good enough job / not taking what he does seriously, even though he seems to be rather good at it. For those of you who forgot, Sully is Matty’s new girlfriend who has shown this terrible habit for … well, being terrible at the wrong times. She seems like she is perpetually auditioning for another show in “Punk’d,” when there is obviously a part of him that wants something deeper and more meaningful.
