‘Grimm’ renewed by NBC for season 6

There’s no more reason for “Grimm” fans to fear: Their beloved supernatural series is coming back for more.

Today, NBC decided to stop fans from fretting further as they confirmed that the show will be coming back for a sixth season. Our assumption is that it will be once more for 22 episodes, but we’ll update this article if there is some news that comes out stating otherwise. Here is what NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke had to say:

“We absolutely love what our producers and cast have accomplished over the past five seasons. They have created a whole new world of creatures and have a truly devoted fan base. We can’t wait to see what comes next.”

The great thing about “Grimm” is that for the most part, there is really not another show out there quite like it when it comes to combining mystery and horror; also, its ratings are much better than they seem to be on the surface. While the show does not even average a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic when it comes to live+same day numbers, it is routinely one of the most-recorded shows on TV when you look at proportions, and its live numbers are hurt somewhat by the show airing at a difficult time on Friday night.

Aside from pleasing fans, one of the other reasons this is such a smart move for NBC is because they are more than likely well aware of just how difficult it is to launch a new property on a night when there are so few viewers ready to watch something live, especially in the demo. It’s one of those times where a conservative approach is best.

So congratulations are in order for all fans of “Grimm” today!
