‘Empire’ season 2, episode 12 video: Hakeem reveals the new company logo!

As if this current season of “Empire” was not crazy enough, Hakeem Lyon is quickly proving that he has every bit the same ego that his father does … and maybe then some.

In the sneak peek below, you can see the new company CEO choose to unveil a new logo, which we were wondering at first if it was going to be some sort of reinvention to the brand, a way to get people excited once more in the company who weren’t beforehand. Well, it just turns out that he has basically just stuck his face on the old logo, like he’s made such significant contributions to the world at times that he’s deserved it. It would be like Papa John’s son taking over the company and then renaming it “Son Bill’s.” (We don’t know if Papa John actually has a son, or that their name is Bill.)

The best part of this big logo unveiling is the look on Cookie’s face, since you can see fire almost coming out of her eyes and ears when she sees it. Hakeem is basically Scrooge McDuck at the moment jumping around in the piles of money and opportunity that he has, and sooner or later it’s all going to reverse-course and come crashing down on his face. We just have to wait and see when more so than if, since we’re pretty darn sure that the moment is coming.

Tomorrow night, we’ll be back with a full review. This one feels like it’s going to be fun. The best part of this may be Fox sticking the new logo at the end of the preview.
