‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 spoilers: Maisie Williams on Arya’s different training
The sixth season of “Game of Thrones” is inching ever closer to its April 24 premiere date, but it’s already getting clear that this is going to be seeing a very different sort of show than we’ve seen to date. Everyone’s close to being in the same boat when it comes to their knowledge base, as we’re getting ahead of the books. Maybe there are a few people here and there who aren’t completely caught up, but we’re close. Arya is one of those people.
You already know that the character was stricken blind at the end of this past season as a result of some of her actions, and as you would expect, this state for her is going to inform quite a few of her decisions moving forward. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in a new interview, Maisie Williams explains that one of the biggest differences in her character’s story moving forward comes in terms of combat:
“Arya is being more physical again, but she’s blind. So her training has progressed even more but it’s on a more physical level and a more technical level because she’s lost her eyes.”
So the great news that is coming out of this is that we’re clearly going to be seeing a whole lot more action for Arya moving forward, so don’t just assume that her losing her vision is going to mean that she will be slowing things down at all. It just means that she has yet another obstacle to overcome … and she could end up doing that without a problem.
