‘Power’ season 3 teaser hints at July premiere date (video)

We’ve got some good news and bad news today when it comes to “Power,” and let’s start here with the former: We’ve got a new teaser from Starz!

In this teaser, there is really one thing that is made extremely clear: In the aftermath of what happened to Lobos (and really in the aftermath of everything that Ghost has done over the course of the series), there are a lot of people who want Ghost dead. This is going to be a real test of survival for him, and while we’ve seen some willingness to get away from the Ghost persona and just be Jamie, we’re not altogether sure that’s gonna stick. When you have the history that this guy has, it’s going to be hard to escape your skeletons.

So what’s the bad news? It really just comes back to the premiere date: July. We don’t know the precise premiere date just yet, but this is the latest that the show has ever premiered on Starz. (The first two seasons each premiered in June.) What’s the reason for that? It really comes down to “Outlander” premiering its second season on Saturday, and it running for a longer stretch at one time than we’ve seen in the past.

Ultimately, we were somewhat curious how Starz was going to handle having more hours of Saturday programming filled up, and if it would lead to them considering some other programming nights like they’ve done in the past. Maybe that will happen down the road, but it’s not something they are considering right now.
