‘The Voice UK’ rankings: Where Cody Frost, Lydia Lucy, Jordan Gray stand
We’re down to the top eight artists now on “The Voice UK,” which is otherwise known as the one time in which we know the contestants well enough to actually rank them. While we have no real insight into voting patterns from the British public, this is where we’d personally put all of the artists going into this weekend’s show. We’re basing these mostly on performance quality to date and fan base size.
8. Vangelis – Other than a cool name and relatively-unique voice, we don’t think that he has stood out too much from the crowd so far.
7. Heather Cameron-Hayes – She has one of the bigger voices in the competition, but after the winners of the first two seasons have gone in this particular direction, we feel like the show has made more of an effort to mix things up.
6. Lyrickal – He is a total wild card in our mind. We weren’t crazy about the first few performances with all of the beatboxing, but the last one was surprisingly moving and we didn’t see that coming at all.
5. Jolan – Like with Vangelis, we’re a little bit worried about him standing out in a crowd and having that killer instinct that feels fairly obvious to us from some of the other performers in this competition.
4. Jordan Gray – She’s incredibly unique, and both that and her personality help her to be the sort of performer we could see making it to the finale. We don’t quite know what she will do every week, so there is an air of unpredictability present here.
3. Cody Frost – She’s incredibly unique, as well, and we know that there are bookies who have favored her heavily as the person to win this season. We’re not sure she is mainstream and that may hurt her … but you never know!
2. Kevin Simm – We’re always going to rank people high who have some sort of built-in following, and Kevin has that. He’s also the sort of performer who tends to do very well on this show. The one thing that he still needs to work on, though, is lightening up. You get the feeling that he takes this very seriously, and that’s not always a good thing.
1. Lydia Lucy – She’s got a tremendous amount of energy, she’s likable, she can sing and rap, and she has fans dating back to “The X Factor.” While her victory isn’t a slam dunk, we do feel like she’s got the best shot of being a real star after the season.
