‘The 100’ season 3: Ricky Whittle responds to big Lincoln story

The 100 -The 100” is proving time and time again these days that it has no problem doing one thing above all else: Killing off characters. Granted, there has been some extenuating circumstances in some of the cases. For Lexa, the writers knew that Alycia Debnam-Carey was leaving to do “Fear the Walking Dead” season 2. Did this mean that they had to kill her or promote it in the not-great way that they did? No, but they had to figure out a way to remove Lexa from the equation that made sense.

When it comes to Ricky Whittle and his character of Lincoln, we’re not so clear on the timeline related to him joining “American Gods.” However, it was clear from the moment that he took this role that he would probably be departing this show in some way … and now he’s gone. We’ve heard all sorts of rumors surrounding his exit, but we ultimately think that it is going to be his responsibility to talk about those rather than us trying to turn this into a tabloid.

For now, we wanted to share some of what he said last night on Twitter following the end of his character’s run on TV:

“I want to say a huge Than ku to Peter Roth,Mark Pedowitz & all at Warner bros & the CW for their constant support & the opportunity to grow … Nothing but love for my incredible fam in Vancouver, the cast, crew, the best & hardest working ever, thank u for everything u do they don’t see … Thank you to the writers whom constantly have their hands tied, they’re so talented & wrote some great stories for linctavia in season 1 … I ask that u continue to support my incredible family & keep watching this great show & look out for everything [American Gods] coming soon.”

Super-classy exit by Whittle here, especially when it comes to encouraging his fans to continue watching the show. He realizes that this show is more than any one person, and it is a source of livelihood for many of the people who work on it. Sure, many of them could find other work if it went away, but why should they have to if they enjoy this job and want to keep it?
